WEEK OF APRIL 22, 2024
Religion: We will discuss the Eucharist as being one of life's greatest blessings. On Wednesday, we will attend an All School Mass.. On Thursday, ,we will read the Good News weekly to prepare for Mass on Sunday.
Writing: Students are writing a paragraph using a writing prompt. .
**** Each week we read new stories and complete activities related to the stories. We also practice spelling, grammar and phonics each day. There will be a reading and spelling test on Thursday..
Reading: Students will read Don't Touch Me! It is important that students learn that some plants are dangerous. In this informational text with photographs, children will learn the different ways that plants protect and defend themselves.. We will finish reading the book Flat Stanley.
Phonics: Students will learn the ou, ow, a(l), augh and ough for vowel pattern /o/.
Spelling: Students will spell words with the vowel patterns /o/.
Grammar: Students will use the irregular action verbs say, eat, run, sit, hide and talk correctly on speaking and writing; use the irregular action verbs give, take, see and go correctly in speaking and writing; use present and past tense irregular action verbs correctly in speaking and writing.
Math: Students will describe the faces, edges, and vertices of three dimensional figures; identify two dimensional figures; look for a pattern to solve problems.
Social Studies: Students will analyze data by categorizing and quantifying service jobs in a picture graph and describe community service jobs at a job fair.
Science: Students will begin to make observations and construct explanation for changes to Earth's landscapes that can happen very slowly.
Math Minutes: Our goal in the third trimester is to accurately complete 50 addition, subtraction, and mixed addition and subtraction facts in 2 minutes. Addition, subtraction or mixed addition and subtraction facts will be sent home each night to practice.. Most nights there will be homework in math. We will test the math maths each week.
